Monty Selected for 2010

We can look forward to next year's Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in Wales with special interest.
Long time Ryder Cup player and noted sound-bite artist Colin Montgomerie will be captaining the Euros.
Monty was given the nod today by the 15-man committee appointed to choose a successor to the last captain, Nick Faldo.
Faldo, you'll recall, failed to hold onto the Cup and it now resides back in America.
Monty wasted little time in letting the Americans know he intends to bring the Cup back in 2010.
Never mind he felt he should have been leading the squad last year in the U.S. but he has never got along with Faldo.
So the big Scot would love nothing more than to win back what Faldo failed to hold onto.
Colin Montgomerie was a fierce competitor as a Ryder Cup player and a hero numerous times.
It will be interesting to see if (or perhaps when?) his abrasive, prickly style grates too much on the players.
Watch for Monty to be baited by the American media during press conferences leading up to 2010, as well. That should give us all an indication of whether or not he can control his emotions as captain better than he has in the past as a player - especially in front of a hostile crowd.

Be a Superstar- New Wii Amercan Idol Game
If you"ve always wanted to be a contestant on American Idol but were afraid, and probably rightfully so (I mean what would Simon say) then here"s a safer and more fun way to participate: Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol Encore 2 w/Microphone. There"s no guarantee Simon won"t trash you but at least you get more than one chance at the spotlight.
More fun than the first version of the game, this one boasts better graphics, more accurate judging by the 3 judges, 40 all new "hit songs" from the 70s to the present, two player duets or "battles", and more options for making your all-important Avatars.
My family got the game for Christmas and are still playing it every day, which either says something about the sorry state of our lives, or just that we have a heightened sense of fun.

Presidents and Golf

In keeping with yesterday's theme of presidents who play golf, I came across an amusing and enlightening story about President Bill Clinton's golf game.
Clinton apparently is passionate about the game (who among us who plays isn't?), to the point where as governor of Arkansas, he sneaked out to a course one day during working hours.
Another story centers on how a teaching pro came across the President as he was dining in a restaurant near Capitol Hill with his family.
The teaching pro slipped him her business card and he showed up unexpectedly at her course several weeks later.
It just goes to show that the game of golf is a great leveler; President Obama and I could stand on the first tee of any golf course anywhere and we would do so as equals.
Of course, I would likely shank my tee shot into the bush. In the eyes of the golf gods, we might be equals, but in my eyes there would be a few subtle distinctions between us....

Katie Holmes in Miu Miu Ads
My favorite celebrity gossip blog posted photos of an upcoming Miu Miu campaign starring Katie Holmes yesterday. According to the Just Jared blogger-- the ad was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in New York last November. Katie is decked out in a graffiti-spattered day dress, which was supposed to depict a "luminous icon radiating a sense of mystery and theatricality." UK Vogue explains the look was inspired by the films of Italian film director Federico Fellini.
I think she looks great (is it me or does she look more and more like Tom?) plus that dress is way hot but her eyes kind of scare me. I don"t know why she looks to empty.... perhaps it"s because she"s been robbed of her soul? What do you guys think?

Celebs Doing Some Last Minute Xmas Shopping!
good evening! oh my word - i was out doing a little shopping after work (nothing exciting - like groceries plus i had to hit the pet store) and i saw two nasty accidents (one on labrea & santa monica blvd - the other on highland & beverly blvd) i totally have this phobia of car accidents - hence the reason i cannot watch the david cronenberg directed flick crash - the only movie i cannot stomach at all (sex & car crashes - ummm....no thanks!) i suppose everyone is running around at the moment getting ready for the impending holidays (people just need to be careful while driving - especially if it"s snowy outside) including a few celebrities who were spotted doing some last minute shopping here in los angeles at barneys new york - such as lindsay lohan and her girlfriend samantha ronson (who is hopefully feeling better - retail therapy always does the trick) plus kelly osbourne, juliette lewis, and zac efron & vanessa hudgens - i wonder what goodies they picked up? anybody who wants to pick me up a present at barneys is more than welcome! popbytes over & out for now....xoxo

'American Pie' star Tara Reid checks into rehab
A publicist says Tara Reid has checked herself into rehab. Jack Ketsoyan said Friday that the "American Pie" star went to the Promises Treatment Center. He did not specify what she was being treated for or when she entered the facility.
"We appreciate your respect to her and her family"s privacy at this time," he said in a statement.
Reid, 33, earned a reputation as a drunken partier after famously being photographed on a red carpet with her breast exposed, apparently unaware that the strap of her dress had fallen off.
Her film credits include "Van Wilder" and "The Big Lebowski." She also hosted the short-lived, half-hour show "Taradise" on E!

It's A Secret Wedding That Everyone Knows About

Drumroll please! The time has finally come: Speidi have gotten married.... sort of.... not really. That"s right, tonight"s episode of The Hills featured the much anticipated Mexican nuptials of Spencer Pratt and his blushing / boozing bride Heidi Montag. And what did we get to see? Nothing really. Apparently we"ll get to see the real deal legal action next week. For now, we just have some shaky home video and enough flammable tequila breath to fuel a small power grid. Mazel mazel!
Spencer and Heidi weren"t the only ones celebrating life-changing events. Whitney landed that job at Diane von Furstenberg"s empire (shocking, I know), and as a result, we spent the rest of Monday"s episode bidding her adieu via parties, luncheons, and extended driving-to-the-airport sequences. Now she"s ready for life in the city. I mean, The City. Will she ever find friends like Lauren again? You know, friends that never invite her to parties (except for lame pool parties hosted by Doug).
Ah, the future is now, young starlets. Enjoy the next chapters of your lives!

Kate Moss to throw pregnancy party

The supermodel - who already has a six-year-old daughter Lila Grace with ex-boyfriend Jefferson Hack - is said to be planning to reveal her happy news at her Cotswolds country home on December 18.
It is believed she will gather all her close friends and family together to tell them she and partner Jamie Hince are having their first child together.
A source said: "Kate has been on the phone to all her friends and her PA has been on the case to her family. Kate has had a few big nights out recently but she has been behaving more than usual. Even Simon Cowell said she had a bit of a tummy when she went to The X Factor last weekend."
Kate, 34, first sparked pregnancy rumours after wearing a series of baggy outfits and cutting alcohol out of her lifestyle.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed Kate took her 60-year-old nanny Mary Davidson on a massive shopping spree at British high street store Topshop.
A source revealed: "Mary was shy and bewildered at first but soon got into the swing as Kate encouraged her. She came away with more than £3,000 of clothes and shoppers found their jaws dropping as they bumped into Kate and she was shouting, ''Come on girl, buy buy buy!'' Mary just kept saying, ''But what will I get you for Christmas?''"
However, the bill for the spree was not picked up Kate - who is a designer for the clothing chain - but by Topshop owner Sir Philip Green.
